Traveling on a Budget
If you haven’t caught Ep 11. of thenetworthy Traveling For the Low, Where and How to Find The Deals, I advise you to start there. On this episode I drop all of my secrets for traveling affordably.
I love to travel and I love to keep money in my pocket. Unlike your average financial fitness coach, I will not tell you to way until all of your debt is paid off to enjoy vacationing. Baby, me and my student loans are catching a flight. I truly believe that life is about balance. Life is short and we shouldn’t prevent ourselves from enjoying it when we don’t know how much time we’re here for. If you can fit traveling in your budget I highly recommend you do so. You may go somewhere and find the inspiration or clarity you need to come home and level up in your business, hobby, or career. But before you book the trip, here’s a few tricks & sites that I like to do in order to keep it affordable.
Acorns - I push acorns a lot but this is really my fave. The money I rack up in Acorns serves as my travel fund (among other things). Using the Found money feature, roundups, and automatic investments I am able to meet my travel budget goals a lot quicker than I would keeping my travel money in a regular savings account. You can sign up for Acorns using my referral link & to receive a $5 investment into your account (Tip: If you have a .edu email address use that at sign up to bypass the monthly fee, but you’ll make that back in roundups & dividends anyway).
Expedia - Expedia is a Acorns Found Money Partner and will invest 4% of your booking price into your investment accounts when you book through Found Money. They also allow you to book now & pay later for certain hotels so that you can secure your vacation while giving yourself more time to save for it.
Airfordable - Airfodable allows you to put your flights on a payment plan. The benefit of flight payments is price protection. Have you ever seen a flight you’ve liked but wanted to wait until your next check to book? Then when you go to book the price has hiked up? Airfordable will secure your airfare in advance when prices are cheaper, protecting you from price hikes. You can sign up for Airfordable using my referral link to recieve $25 off of your flight.
